MMS Parent News for February

Well, Mother Nature sure does like to mess around with us.  Here I thought we were about to have summer and then a sneaky snow storm ends the week early.   I hope that you all enjoyed the snow and have bundled up for this cold weather.  I guess spring is a little further away than I thought.

Communication

During the parent informational night on January 8th, I received great feedback from parents in attendance. One of the pieces of feedback was to try to give a few weeks notice on events that are coming up. Based on that feedback, my digital newsletters will contain the dates for that month and the first two weeks of the next month.  You can also access these dates on the school calendar on our website.

Transition To High School

Those of you with children in the 8th grade, it is time to start thinking about the first year of High School.  Believe it or not, it is time to start course sign ups.  Mr. Moody will be communicating with all parents with details on the process, but here are some of the important dates.

February 10 – All 8th grade students will walk up to the MHS PAC to meet with Mr. Moody and the high school counselors to learn about class  sign up.  The assembly is from 10:00am-11:00am.  Mr. Moody will go over the choices students have and the process for signing up for classes.

February 24 – **Strongly recommended that all 8th grade students and parents attend.** This is the opportunity to hear about the course offerings.  There is a session that starts at 6:00PM in the PAC that focuses on 8th grade students.  Then you can go into the gym and discuss any curricular questions you might have with the High School Staff.

March 4 – MMS Parent informational Night @ MMS Library – 6:00PM – This will be a question and answer session for 8th grade parents regarding course sign ups.  This is an opportunity to meet with myself and Mr. Moody and have any questions that come up in the sign up process answered.
