MMS Students Learn About Digital Footprints

As students become more and more the heavy users of technology, there is a concern about how much information they are leaving behind on-line.  Today is the third day of a unit that is being taught by Kim Fish (Technology Integration Specialist), Mary Glennon (Literacy Coach), Melanie Smith (Assistant Principal) and myself.  The lessons focus on how to keep your information safe on the internet and also how to be a Good Digital Citizen.

Every year I talk with students about their interactions on-line.  Many students are very good school citizens based on hoe they treat others but some thing happens when they get on Facebook or another social site.  One goal of the training is to think about how we treat others online and face to face.

We are using many resources from Common Sense Media which is a site devoted to helping children and parents manage the ever changing digital landscape.
